From the Chair...

We basked and some burnt a little in glorious sunshine this Sunday. The 6 races were sailed in tricky conditions. Even I managed a couple of wins due to intervention of a greater power than me.

We also had an unplanned boat rigging class held by Tony on the grass, which has given us another idea to help get new skippers onto the water. We have decided to hold a new boat rigging workshop in the near future. New members will be able to bring along their new vessels to assemble with the help of a couple of experienced riggers. We will also be looking to run a tuning class to be held one Thursday evening this Summer. More on those opportunities will be posted later on here and the website.

With the possibilities of gales next Thursday we don't intend to run any racing and there will be no official GOMYC racing over the Bank Holiday weekend.

We are a young Club just starting out (April), the paid up membership has soared into double figures and we are looking at running a couple of small events later this year including a members trophy weekend and an invitation to the North Wales Clubs for a bit of interclub racing, again more of that will be posted later.

We have a number of DF65 owners in the club, and are looking at bringing that fleet up to speed. In the first instance we shall look at running a couple of DF65 races when we next get together on a Sunday dependent on numbers, if you have a DF65 let me or one of the committee know about your interest asap.

On the note of the committee I would just like to mention the hard work which has been put into this club already by Michael Hardie (Club Sectary), Tony Broad (website, HRO and Tech) and Peter Hogan (Treasurer). We shall also be appointing both DF95 and DF65 Class Captains as we grow, so we will be looking for volunteers soon.

So that's it from the Chair, happy sailing I look forwards to seeing you on the water.
